'depicked' for 'depict'

Depicking sounds and looks like a laborious task but seems to belong to the realms of textiles or personal grooming rather than those of describing or painting. After viewing a few examples, however, I find it quite possible to imagine it as a particularly meticulous fine art or decorative technique – details perhaps being ‘picked out’?

Re: 'depicked' for 'depict'

There is a sense of “pick out” that relates to depiction. I don’t hear or read it much these days. We say, or used to say, that an artist “picks out” a color against a contrasting background of another color. Example from the OED: “1992 Daily Mail 17 Aug. 20/3 Jackson then presented his young fan with..a card with his autograph picked out in velvet.”
