I heard this one by someone who was very amazed to learn it was not the standard form.
I wouldn’t want to live in a kibitz [because of the lack of privacy]. Just having [names] come over to the house is kibitzey enough
It was certainly standard for this person, and the context of communal life entailing a lack of privacy is suggestive. It shows up on the Internet as well:
Middle East/Africa. Summer School in Ankara; Travels in Turkey; Social Work in Kenya Work in a Kibitz in Israel>; Your Story Here!
Ask anybody who has ever worked in a Kibitz. In Israel, they are all failing because no one wants to be the manager who works late hours
She is now living in a kibitz in Israel and has a Palestinian boyfriend.

Unless someone confesses that they thought it was called a Kib(b)itz because of the lack of privacy, I’m afraid I’m still skeptical that it’s an eggcorn. (A malapropism it certainly is, in any case.)
