Craigslist as a source of eggcorns and variants

I find some fascinating typos and spellings on Craigslist (www.craigslist.org) postings that may or may not be eggcorns. Like this one, listing a free dog:

no sure of his breeth. male, about 10 months old
firs come firs serve
call mia for any info

One wonders if “mia” would spell “first” as “firs” in another context, outside of this expression. (And does “breeth” mean “breath” or “breed”?)

Or this gem:

lots of carbor boxes good for someone that resicles carbor.

Apparently the poster didn’t make the connection of “card” and “board” use in describing the material used to make boxes.

Then there was the person who listed a “rot-a-tiller” for sale. I suggested to a friend that such a device would probably help with composting.

Anyway… all I’m saying is that Craigslist may be more than just a source for local goods and is probably a depository for all kinds of wonderful, fun, and interesting reshapings (which may or may not turn out to be eggcorns).

Anyone else have some fun CL finds?

Coincidentally I saw “self-defecating” while reading the Best of Craigslist today.

Here is a classic that has already been reported on the forum:

Crofton Automatic Breadmaker – Never been used still sealed in box it was purchased in. Make wholemade bread the easy way this holiday season

Re: Craigslist as a source of eggcorns and variants

Forgive me for beating a dead horse with this thread… I do find it pretty interesting, and I keep finding very interesting eggcornish things on craigslist. I would love to see eggcornish craigslist examples from other posters. I think the possibilities are pretty endless.

Here’s another one I found (okay…I’ve been perusing the pet listings lately):

hi looking for mc call or african grey (colorado springs)
————————————————————————————————————————
hi looking for someone that needs there pet to have good home.i just got scam on a mc call very upset so if yu have one that needs a good home and not asking a really high price.just want them to have good home please call…

Obviously the “mc call” is a bird since the other thing she’s seeking is an African Grey. And I’m sure she means a macaw. But perhaps the poster thinks there is something called a “McCall’s Parrot” (a McCall for short), and thus the misspelling, and this is what makes it at least eggcornlike if not an out-and-out eggcorn.

Or, a Mc Call is named for the sound it makes?

Here’s another variant:

Severe McCaw to a wonderful bird home. Please, experienced bird owners only, as I want him to thrive in a new environment.

I believe these may be exotic birds native to Scotland.
