"funfair" for "fanfare"

I just encountered this one today:

[...]PC exchanges a file with Mac to much funfair[...] (http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cf … wsID=17449)

I first thought this might occur only in speakers of British English, but a little searching turned up the following examples from the US, South Asia, and Africa:

The problem is that it opened in the 80’s to much funfair and was last updated in 1995. (http://www.mytravelguide.com/hotels/pro … Hotel.html)

This festival was celebrated with much funfair on 24th at this place. (http://wesanthals.tripod.com/id5.html)

The day has already passed but without much funfair[...] (http://www.dailypioneer.com/displayit1. … bhub13.txt)

[...]competitions are held with much funfair among different villages. (http://www.bdpressinform.org/picture.htm)

The UN official had earlier arrived at the camp without much funfair. (http://www.irinnews.org/report.aspx?reportid=60885)

I was also able to find some examples without the ‘much’:

The religious and seasonal festivals were the big events of their lives and were celebrated with a lot of funfair. (http://www.apnaorg.com/articles/IJPS2/)

[...]without funfair, my fingers began a mellifluous harmony on the computer keyboard[...] (http://www.nigerdeltacongress.com/oarti … hasing.htm)

We’ve seen President Bush perform admirably without funfair on several occasions. (http://www.useless-knowledge.com/1234/n … le338.html)

And finally, a few examples written as ‘fun fair’:

There is much fun fair about women emancipation and empowerment etc. in the entire country. (http://www.jang.com.pk/thenews/oct2005- … wspost.htm)

By the way,my birthday passed without much fun fair[...] (http://my.opera.com/T-Dub/blog/2006/11/16/doing-great)

Re: "funfair" for "fanfare"

Two years later, some new examples:
In such a mutating world, one may choose a career with much funfair, to his own anguish that the prospects have drastically diminished, or one may realize that he has not been able to keep pace with the demands as his career evolves.(http://blog.astrolife.com/archives/43)
Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), a project of Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh and European Commission, has successfully launched their portal website www.bfti.org.bd, on 2nd September 2008 at the Sheraton Hotel, Dhaka, amid much funfair. (http://www.mancons.com/NewsDetails.aspx)
They build two classrooms or one block of toilet and commission it with so much funfair that the money used in advertising the work is even more expensive than the work they want to do. (http://www.vanguardngr.com/content/view/27863/48/)
He hoped the scheduled Pakistan Day Festival in March will be held with much funfair and invited community members to turn up in large numbers. (http://www.qatar-tribune.com/data/20090 … =nation4_1)
The anti-encroachment drive was launched with much funfair. (http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-ne … -a-far-cry)
The party had launched a similar program in the neighboring state of Chhattsigarh with much funfair. (http://abhimishra.blogspot.com/2008/05/ … april.html)
The NEW FACE OF NIGERIA Modelling Contest 2008 was unveiled [...] with a lot of funfair [...] (http://www.newfaceofnigeria.com/)

Google Books also came up with an example in ‘Water of India’ by G.K. Ghosh: Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi with much funfair declared “Ganga Action Plan” but even after two decades we are where we were. (http://books.google.com/books?id=enE9kdIKqCQC&pg=PA27)

Once again it seems that most of the examples are from South Asia or Africa.
