I’m not sure what, if anything, opinions have to do with driving, although the steering system does transmit the driver’s opinion of where his car should go! Examples:
The sterring parts are called many different tings including rack and opinion, rack and opinion assemblies, rack opinion units and gearbox.

Between those dates, I have replace the rack opinion steering, muffler system, brake master cylinder and brakes, starter, battery and various other pieces

One could be that your tires are out of balance, the tie rods could be bad, ball joints bad or the rack opinion is bad.

Rack opinion steering requires good bald joints. Dozens of “bald joints” on web pages:
Ad for car: “I’ve gone through the car al dealer services timming belt, radiator, power steering, shocks , bald joints you name it” (http://hartford.craigslist.org/cto/1107966266.html)
Car forum: “Bald front tires and bad bald joints on my ‘94 SE 5-speed, and i’m trying to drive it in 9 inches of fresh powder.” (http://forums.maxima.org/3rd-generation … r-max.html)
The male side of a ball joint does kind of look like a bald head.
