last scene

I saw the phrase “last scene” in a press release on the recent “Amber alert” declared over the recent disappearance of 3 year old Reachelle smith: “Last scene at residence…” (http://www.pr.com/press-release/11122)

To make sure that this is a valid eggcorn I Googled “was last scene” and got 14 great results, all describing someone’s last known physical location (cf. crime scene) or public stage performance.

“Ruby Cruz was last scene at 4 am inhaling any food at Mama’s.”

“Tim Kennedy (drums) has been playing in area bands since the early 1990s, including 4 years with The Jericho Jam Band who was last scene at The Community Coffeehouse in Danbury and First Baptist Church in Brewster, NY.”

“She was last scene at Bristol as Gertrude opposite Keith as Claudius, Lenny Haas as Hamlet, and her own son Jared Reed (Artistic Director of Curio Theatre) as Laertes in Douglas Campbell’s exquisite production of Hamlet.”
