A stigma can feel like having been “stung†in a way that marks you. And stigmas certainly attract stinging remarks (though stigmata presumably don’t). There are about a dozen unique hits for the string “a stingma,” and about the same number for “the stingma”; most of the other 155 citations of “stingma” aren’t instances of the reshaping. Examples:
Karma is like a stingma and almost every religion I believe has something like a stingma. I could be wrong because I don’t know everything.

This is 2005, we women have EARNED the right to be sexual creatures. Sure, some people still attatch a stingma.

6,000 AIDS related funerals every day in Africa alone. Why? Largely because there is a stingma attached to using condoms.

In our American society (because we still take after the British), there’s a stingma that nice girls don’t – think about it, do it too often, or be overly sexy, especially if we are not currently in a relationship, especially a monogamous relationship, so viewing these sites fills a need for a release, the same as men, really.

Edit: I originally underrepresented the numbers for “stingma” because I forgot I’d been searching for the string “a stingma.”

Super. Beadwof is at his plots again. He’s probably working on the “ma” part right now.

we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .
