The misspelling “peak your interest” for “pique your interest is common. But today a co-worker received an e-mail that used “tweak your interest,” which struck me as an eggcorn: tweaking – adjusting or improving – one’s interest. Come to think of it, “peak your interest” is almost an eggcorn, too—bringing one’s interest to it’s highest point.
A Google search finds 423 occurences of “tweak your inerest,” 43,800 of “peak your interest,” and 120,000 of “pique your interest.”
