Cro-Magnum man

We’ve had Crow Magnon man and Pro-Magnon man , but I think this is new:

The differences between these men and the ancient farming woman speak of a “profound migratory episode” in the 1,000 years between their lifetimes [...] Cro-Magnum Man has been found to have been in Europe well

The pendulum has swung from the Cro-Magnum ethic of “Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche” to the pathetic Wild Men who sit around beating drums and bitching about their fathers.

I can’t help it if you’re Cro-Magnum Man when it comes to tech.

Cro-magnum man found in West France People throughout Asia, Australia First engravings (Venus of Willendorf, Austria). 30,000 BC, Bones in west Europe

I guess “Magnum” has cool masculine connotations (firearms, Magnum P.I. ?), and Cro-Magnon Man is somehow cooler than Neanderthal Man and other fourbares. Or something like that.

There were hits for pro magnum and crow magnum but all I saw looked purposeful; maybe some aren’t, but I didn’t have time to sift through to look for them.

*If the human mind were simple enough for us to understand,
we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .

(Possible Corollary: it is, and we are .)

Re: Cro-Magnum man

Seems like one of Pat’s WTF substitutions.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
