"Climbate" and "climbs" for climate and climes

Perhaps I overdid the number of examples, but here you are.

Motorbike forum:
We had some great sessions together but present finacial climbate does not help the cause

Eco-conscience:
We can affect the earth, we can turn it into a desert or a paradise, we can pollute the atmosphere and fill it with radioactive poison. We can end all life on Earth and bring about climbate change.

WTF error on a blog, we hope:
I am a graduate student studying conservation management under climbate change at the University of Notre Dame

Annual Snowbird invasion:
True to their name they migrate in large, land-bound, slow-moving flocks of RV’s, through Canada and into warmer climbs to gnaw at otherwise peaceful communities.

chat:
Come wallow in my misery like gentlemen instead of gallivanting around these warmer climbs like tiny cowardly babies.

paragliding site with lots of talk about thermals and climb rates, and yet:
November still has reasonable flying but the weather is changing and no longer reliable. The thermals have departed for warmer climbs and the flying window is back to the 2 maybe 3 hours in the afternoon.

Danger for Scotland’s plants, wherein the talk is of climate but also climbs:
Douglas McKean, assistant curator of the British section at the Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh, said that climate change could kill off Scotland’s native alpine plants while plants from warmer climbs were in full December bloom.

Lawn experts, who talk of climate but also climbs:
Again it is a good idea to consider climate when choosing the grass you wish to have in your lawn as there are different types for different climates. In cooler climbs a highland and brown-top bent mixed with Chewing’s fescue or creeping red fescue is the best choice; whereas in warmer climbs you should perhaps consider something along the lines of the common Bermuda grass or Zoysia.

Climate, clime, cline, incline, and lean all come from the same Gk. origins. Those precocious Gks were already wise to the shape of the Earth. They imagined the planet’s surface divided into 7 zones that varied in their angle of presentation to the sun. These were climate zones; only later did the word come to be associated with average weather conditions. A clime is a still region of the Earth, generally placed somewhere along the temperature gradient from colder to warmer. Although we do speak of climbing in latitude, and going up north and down south, the word climb is of separate origin from clime, and refers to scaling something by clinging to it. Nevertheless, these days, when climate has become a subject mentioned with an undercurrent of dread, due to the prospect of relentlessly climbing mercury, climbate is a natural connection to make.

Re: "Climbate" and "climbs" for climate and climes

Welcome to the forum, David. Please take the time to acclimbatize to the forum’s mores before doing any heavy eggcorn lifting.

The doctors, however, found that she would remain uncooperative for a while, so they decided to have her fully restrained and sensory-deprived for a period of 24 hours to acclimbatize her and artificially calm her mind down.

I could believe that some utterers might associate different climates with different altitudes and that “climb” is a figurative expression of altitude.

Re: "Climbate" and "climbs" for climate and climes

Well, I’ll be darned, you’re quite right. There are multiple instances of higher and lower climes, referring to altitude, and westerly and easterly and otherly climes, and using the word correctly. I confess that I had always understood “climes” to be inextricably linked to climate, which I guess it is, but the word does not demand it. Then there are also multiple higher and lower climbs. Here it become nigh impossible to distinguish climb from counter-clime.
