"Websight" for "website"

I noticed “websight” in lieu of “website” on a college sports forum (see below). Inasmuch as one goes to a “site” to “see” what’s there, I thought this usage might qualify as an eggcorn.

“I will never, ever pay for a websight on the internet. Support the sport, blah, blah, blah. If I want to give my money away, I’d rather give it to a good charity. Pay for an internet sight, phhhh.”

Re: "Websight" for "website"

Thanks for the post, Hurricane. This is indeed an nice eggcorn, and a common one. It’s been cited before, first on “Paul Brian’s amazing list of common errors”, not as an eggcorn but a homonym to look into (link) and then the site/sight substitution was touched on as “on site/on sight” (link) where both web cite and web sight were mentioned affectionately, and here, for “a site for soar eyes” (link).
