A Google search reveals other examples; not a lot, but enough to make it a true eggcorn:
“You dont want to listen to the actual words the people are saying just the backround music.”
“I don’t really watch much TV. at all I leave it on as back round noise whenever I am home”
“I think if it’s on as back round noise while the child is playing, that’s fine.”
“Normally I have it on for back round noise.”

Welcome to the forum, emcook. Backround is a classic eggcorn – see this post from 2006 that was commented on again in 2007.
