regorgitate << regurgitate

When you regurgitate, the contents of your stomach rise into your gorge (throat, gullet). The words “regurgitate” and “gorge” do not share an etymology. They do, however, share the occasional word: scores of web sites use “regorgitate” in place of “regurgitate.” Three examples:

Student bulletin board: “”here students, today we’ll be watching a fat guy shove propaganda down your throat, and for homework you can regorgitate that bull shit to the president, because he reads hate mail!””

College professor rating site: “Not sure why she is an accounting professor when all she does is regorgitate /read off the powerpoint slides.”

Comment on BBC site: “I bet its all the TV fans fed with the trash from biased commentators that regorgitate that dribble.”
