The rude of all evil

The biblical original, from 1 Timothy 6:10, traces the the root of all evil to money. Money can also be impolite, inconsiderate, or darn right rude.

First person account:

For some reason I used to think the phrase was “the rude of all evil”. I remember getting corrected on this on a 7th grade english paper I wrote. I always wondered if I was the only one who had it wrong.

Re: The rude of all evil

More specifically, it’s not “money,” but the “love of money,” that I Timothy equates with the root of all evil.

Any connection between this verse and the financial meltdown of 2008 is purely coincidental.

Hatching new language, one eggcorn at a time.
