despairage << disparage

When we disparage another person, we employ a word that once described unequal, cross-class marriages. “Disparage” is literally “dis-peer-age.” The connubial aspect has been largely forgotten, however. The modern meaning of the term is to degrade/slight/vilify/discredit.

If you disparage someone too much, you might cause the person to despair:

Customer review: “I am not out to despairage any of HP printers”

User reply to news article: “Why are you attempting to despairage him with that? ”

Sport forum post: “I am well within my rights to despairage the product when it doesn’t work”

Hundreds of similar examples on the web.

Re: despairage << disparage

You might also despairage something because you have come to despair of its ever functioning as you want it to.

we would be too simple-minded to understand it* .

(Possible Corollary: it is, and we are .)
