vomit << vombit

Various ways to insert “bomb” into vomiting. A deep metaphor—compare “projectile vomiting.”

FB post: “Dealing with a sick kid who just vombed all over her room….ugh.”

Picture caption: “He looks abit happy now hes vombed all over me..”

UK forum comment: “Think I just vombed a little”

Web fiction: “I vombited and then fainted again.”

Online sports board: “I will not comment further, or I may vombit.”

FB comment: “i feel like i Will vombit ”

FB comment: “I was sick a while back with headaches, nose bleeds and vombiting for 2-3 weeks.”

Gives a whole new meaning to “carpet bombing.”

Re: vomit << vombit

Odd one, surprisingly common. I was disappointed not to find any exx. of vombed it (all over the carpet) .

Re: vomit << vombit

Just noticed the ordering vomit << vombit , backwards from what is customary on this site at least. (I.e. we would usually list vombit << vomit or perhaps vomit >> vombit .) Yet somehow this one seems iconic: the acorn spews forth << the eggcorn. Ya think?

This is not the only time I have made this mistake. And subject lines in this Forum can’t be edited.
