“Palate” is literally the roof of the mouth, and figuratively the sense of taste. The word “palette” is often incorrectly used instead, especially as the phrase “palette cleanser / palette cleansing”.

I suggest that before posting, people go to the second search field on the Eggcorn Database page (the field that’s labeled “Google Searchâ€) and search for the eggcorn or other treat they’re thinking of posting, to see if it’s already been discussed here. I prefer to add to an existing discussion rather than to have proliferating threads on the same topic. That way, it’s easier to access the whole discussion of a particular topic, without having to find numerous threads.
